Scenes From Oxford: Coupon Code!

If you are familiar with my 2010 Scenes From Oxford calendar and have been interested in buying large (or small) prints from that same calendar, then now's the best time! Starting today until December 31, go to the 'Scenes From Oxford' gallery at my photo site Leaning Tripod Photography and enter the coupon code 'SAVE25' when you checkout and your order will be 25% off. Remember, only the 'Scenes From Oxford' gallery prints and merchandise will accept the coupon code!

As I add to my galleries -- there are a lot of pictures to go through and upload from the past decade, so it takes some time -- I will have more sales and coupon codes so keep checking back. If you're interested in having portraits made, please let me know so we can set up a session!

And if you visit my site and don't make a purchase but want to leave a comment, please feel free to do so! I would love to have feedback on how you think the site or photos look.

It's Still Not Too Late to Order Your Scenes From Oxford 2010 Calendar

A little over a month ago I let everyone know about my 2010 calendar, Scenes From Oxford. I received orders for 19 calendars, enough for me to make a bulk order, and then shortly afterward I was able to sell the remaining six calendars!

There has been enough interest now for me to make another order of 25 calendars, which have shipped and should be here any day now. Some are already spoken for, so I wanted to get the word out again before they're all gone. I also asked those who have already received calendars for any feedback that I might share in this post, so here it is:
"Got your calendar. We love it. I really hope you do another one for the following year. Even if we had never visited Oxford before we loved it. Thanks." ~ Nikki
"I enjoyed it and look forward to using it! I like having a piece of Oxford with me in Nashville." ~ Ann
"I received my 2010 calendar in a very timely manner and LOVE IT. The pictures are amazing & I enjoy flipping through looking at them time & again. Your work is awesome, I wish you lived around here so you could take our family pictures. Thanks for creating such a beautiful calendar and allowing me to purchase one so that I can enjoy your God given gift of capturing His world." ~ Courtney
"I got the calendars today. Your photographs are amazing! I told Harold we need to make a visit to you as Oxford seems to be very picturesque. (And I'm a huge Grisham fan!) One of the calendars is already up on my office wall and the other is wrapped as a Christmas present for a friend who is a Faulkner fan." ~ Lori
"I love being able to show my family where I live every day of the year! And I loved the composition of the photographs." ~ Alison

If you'd like to order a calendar, just email me at costonoxford@yahoo.com. I'll send an invoice and as soon as you have paid (and the calendars are in), I'll ship your order!

Here's another glimpse at the 12 photos that are in the calendar:

My Calendar: Scenes From Oxford

Do you already have your 2010 calendar? No? Then have I got the calendar for you! It's something I've been working on, and I'm very pleased with the final product. The title is Scenes From Oxford (as in Oxford, Mississippi) and captures some of the most well-known spots in town and on campus like Taylor Grocery, Square Books, the Walk of Champions and Rowan Oak (home of author William Faulkner). All but two of the photos were taken this year, and all are my own personal work.

Each calendar costs $22.50, which includes tax and shipping. Here's the catch: Because I'm just one person, not a big business, I need to order in bulk. In order to do that, I am hoping to find out how many are genuinely interested in buying a calendar before setting up a 'Buy' button. I need at least 25 people to send an email telling me "I'll buy a calendar!" If one person thinks they'd buy two calendars (or more), I need to know that as well.

Here's the fun part: I decided to make this a giveaway as well (assuming I hear from enough people). Once I have 25 emails, I'll put those names into a random name generator and one person will receive their calendar for FREE! And if I get 25 more? Another FREE calendar from those names will be drawn!

So if you are interested in buying the Scenes From Oxford 2010 Calendar, send an email to me at costonoxford@yahoo.com no later than Monday, November 16. This will ensure that I'll have enough time to set up the 'Buy' button for you to officially order your calendar(s) and get them in time to give as a Christmas gift or just have them in time for the new year. Remember, your email to me is not your order. It's just a way to let me know that you want to order a calendar if I am able to make a bulk order.

Here is a small preview of all 12 months in Scenes From Oxford
(December's month is also the cover of the calendar.)

Leaning Tripod Photography

After quite a bit of hard work (and more to come, that's for sure) I am finally ready for anyone who wishes to view Leaning Tripod Photography! The link to the gallery is also in the sidebar -- just click on the logo.

The main purpose of this store is to make things a bit easier when I do personal photo shoots for customers. It seems lately that I am doing more and more photo shoots -- and don't get me wrong, I love it! -- but I needed a better way to keep things organized. Plus, I think this is much easier for my customers. They are given a link and password, and they can go and order prints and other items.

I am also displaying some non-portrait photographs for anyone to see and purchase. As of now, the main gallery only holds two albums. I'll be adding more photos to those two albums on top of adding more albums to the gallery at a later date. How long it takes depends on how long I work on my photos, because I want each one to be the best it can possibly be. That means spending a bit of time on some and a lot of time on others.

You'll be able to order prints -- up to very large sizes -- but you will also be able to order a variety of other items with your selected photos. Ordering calendars, though, requires sending an email to LeaningTripodPhoto@yahoo.com.

If you just want to look at the photos, feel free! My suggestion is to view them as a slide show. That gives you the chance to see some of the black and white photos change into their color versions.

Photos and Blogs

I'm working on about five new projects recently, almost all involving my photography. Hopefully I will be able to unveil some of it in the near future. For now, just trying to get it all done correctly and well. If you haven't seen me tone one of my photos, you just don't know how meticulous I can be. I've had people tell me, "Don't worry about 'fixing' the photos with Photoshop!" when I've taken pictures for them. Apparently they do not know how my brain works. Must. Tone. Photos.

I really wasn't going to blog about much today. I wanted to share about a couple of blogs that I've been reading for a while. I came across one through the other, and both of them are completely heart-wrenching. So why do I read them? I don't know...maybe so I can be reminded of my own blessings, or to be inspired by others going through huge tragedies -- ones that will never leave their minds.

The first one is called matt, liz and madeline. It started out as a regular blog, sharing with friends and family. But the day after Matt Logelin's wife Liz gave birth to their daughter Madeline -- just over twenty-four hours later -- Liz died. Now the blog is about a single father trying to figure out how to raise a child on his own, although you'll see that he thankfully has many, many helping hands in the process.

The blog I found through Matt's blog is called The Spohrs Are Multiplying. As a mother, I find this one almost unbearable to read, because it is about the loss of this couple's little 18-month-old girl Maddie in April of this year. It also started out as a regular kind of blog, but is now a picture of the daily struggles of grief. You'll find humor in there as well, and the videos of Maddie are just priceless. Don't say I didn't warn you, though...this is tough stuff.
