I actually found that a bit disturbing - since you can know if you are a Christian or not and know if someone else is or not too - and that other people's souls are our business. Just from that little bit - I think he is ignorant of what is in the Bible.

I think in this case, John is mostly talking about Christians discussing issues on message boards and deciding by a sentence or two that another person is or is not a Christian. I personally cannot read another's heart by that much they've shared. And honestly...I can know a person my whole life and not know their full heart. Only God can do that.
I don't believe John is saying that others' souls are not our concern (read his book I'm OK -- You're Not to get a better idea of his thinking and ideas), he's just pointing out that it's not our call to say what is in another's heart. I've made it clear, when I reviewed his book on my blog, that I don't agree with everything he says. I do, however, appreciate his viewpoint on some things. Thanks again!
