Thankful Thursday

I have seen several blogs that carry a 'Thankful Thursday' theme with them, so I am going to make the effort to join in. I know that I am thankful for the blessings in my life, but not as thankful as I should be. And with all the lament I have shared on this blog, I wanted to share the joys as well.

I am so thankful for all that God has done in my life. I do cry out to him to make the wrong things right again, but when I see where he has brought me spiritually in the past several years I can't help but be grateful. My eyes are much more open than they ever were.

I am always thankful for Casey and for Miles, and I am still amazed at two such awesome blessings I can call mine. This morning (Thursday is Casey's day off) we were making pancakes and Miles was dancing in the kitchen to a fun song his Uncle 'Bobo' wrote. The sun was coming through the window, the coffee was brewing...it was a moment in which I had to stop and look around and just take it in.

I'm definitely thankful for the small moments. I feel that's where God blesses and teaches me most.

Welcome to Oz

When I learned yesterday that the kitten we'd applied to adopt had been taken, I took Miles (and our good friend Steph) down to the humane society to see if we could find another. 'Simba' was our original choice and his name was going to be Milo, but instead we chose 'Flurry,' an all-white mix who was two months old just as Simba was.

When Casey and I first moved here, we had just adopted an all-white Siamese mix named Toby. He was by far the sweetest cat I've known (sorry, Junebug!) who mysteriously disappeared three months after the move. I was pretty depressed, even missing work for two days over it.

So now we have Oz, who is constantly wanting 'loves' as we call it, and when he's not getting that he is wandering around making his little meowing noises. The toys I picked out yesterday have been a great source of entertainment for him as well as us.

As for Junebug, the 7-year-old cat? She's not so thrilled to see another cat in her territory, but we're not worried. I think they'll be friends eventually, just like she and Toby became.
